Emirates Airlines resumed flights to Nigeria on October 1, 2024, landing at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport after a two-year suspension.
Flight EK 783, operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, received a water cannon salute upon arrival.
Passengers were processed at the old terminal, while departing passengers used the new terminal. Emirates had earlier announced its daily Lagos-Dubai service, offering enhanced connectivity from Nigeria’s largest city.
Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s aviation minister, led negotiations with the UAE, paving the way for this resumption and establishing a new Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between the two countries.

Kingsley Nwokoma, president of AFARN, expressed delight at the airline’s return, citing improved services onboard the flight.
