The UK Civil Aviation Authority has reportedly written to Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Authority, stating that Air Peace has violated some aviation safety regulations.
The airline commenced the Lagos-London route three months after receiving two mandatory occurrence reports. The UK CAA forwarded the complaints to the NCAA, which has also written to Air Peace to provide clarification.
The NCAA noted that the UK CAA had called attention to the lack of operational approval for Electronic Flight Bag functions affecting the safe operation of the aircraft. The airline admitted that an Electronic Flight Bag was being used for navigational purposes.
The CAA also noted that there was no mounting device for the use of Electronic Flight Bags, charging points, or battery for backup. Air Peace recently began operation to London Gatwick from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos under the Bilateral Air Services Agreement with the UK.
