Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga officially launched his bid for the African Union (AU) Chairmanship, pledging to transform the AU into a people-centered organization.
Speaking on August 27 at State House, Nairobi, Odinga proposed the establishment of an AU Visa to ease travel across the continent, building on the AU’s 2018 African passport initiative.
He also committed to supporting airspace reforms and boosting intra-African trade. Odinga’s vision includes a united Africa, transcending regional divisions, and making the AU’s impact felt across the continent.

He faces competition from candidates in Djibouti, Mauritius, and Madagascar.
