The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) is seeking the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON)’s opinion on foreign airlines competing with registered travel agents in the distribution and marketing of tickets channel ecosystem.

NANTA President, Yinka Folami, argues that SON must ensure strict adherence to international best practices in ticket sales and appeals to the organization to address the alleged infraction by foreign airlines.

Folami also criticizes foreign airlines for setting up city offices in Nigeria, contrary to the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) arrangement signed with the Federal Government.

SON Conformity Assessment Officer, Chidinma Ewuzie, acknowledges the need for interventions to understand global best practices in service delivery but outlines that the International Standards Organisation grouped travel services under another category.

Ewuzie promises to collaborate with NANTA to define the troubling scenario in Nigeria and discuss the travel trade services template through a focal workshop.
