Can you enjoy a blissful weekend at the Ikogosi Warm Springs, Nigeria’s natural wonder? Let me explain how you get there, where to stay, and how much cash to carry.

Ikogosi Warm Springs is in Ikogosi town in Ekiti State, about 300 km from Lagos. The tourist attraction is essentially two springs, with one warm and one cold, running down the same rocks and never blend. The resorts around the warm springs sells standard rooms, suites and private villas, from ₦150,000 a night for two adults to ₦2,200,000 in the Presidential Villa.

Prices were checked on 29 September 2026, and naira conversions use ₦1,330 to the US dollar. Treat every rate as a starting price.

Where Is Ikogosi Warm Springs Located?

Ikogosi, home to the Ikogosi Warm Springs, is a small town in the hills of south-west Nigeria, near the Osun state border. The resort is on 116 hectares at the edge of town, on the Ipole-Iloro road off the Efon-Alaaye axis. Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, is 25 km away and Akure is 51 km west.

How to Get to Ikogosi Warm Springs from Lagos

Ikogosi warm springs

If you’re in Lagos, it is actually very easy. You will drive on the Lagos to Ibadan expressway, and then Ilesha, Efon-Alaaye and Ipole-Iloro before you enter into Ikogosi.

If you stay in Lagos, you should already know about the traffic situation. Therefore, I advise that you leave home before 6:00 am. This is because of the repair work on the Kara-Berger bridge section. People have been held six hours or more this month (Punch, Vanguard).

Now, if we are talking about budget, think about the distance and the fuel you will use.

A car doing 12 km on a litre burns about 50 litres over 600 km, roughly ₦70,000. A heavy SUV at 8 km per litre needs 75 litres and ₦105,000.

Fortunately, there are no toll on this route. Also, a 2026 survey of Nigerian toll roads found no plaza between Lagos and Ibadan, and only the Abuja to Makurdi corridor collects. Therefore, refuel your car and eat before Ilesha. Once you approach there, options thin out. And you may not find any ATMs around too. You may find POS attendants, or merchants along the road.

Now, another point to put in mind is that there are checkpoints almost every 20 minutes past Ibadan, and our checkpoints guide covers how to handle them.

If you are not driving, you can use pubic transport. Buses and 12-seater Siennas run Lagos to Ado-Ekiti, 270 km, in 4 to 5 hours, and you might pay like ₦7,500 to ₦10,500 per seat. However, south-west fares keep moving with fuel.

So, get to Fajuyi Park, and share a car or hire a taxi to Ikogosi Warm Springs. Visitors who arrive without a ride can finish on okada, the motorcycle taxis. Okada rides in Nigeria can be fun but scary at speed.

Quick tip: Fix your return lift before you leave Lagos.

Can You Fly to Ikogosi Warm Springs?

it depends. There is no airport at Ikogosi Warm Springs or in Ikogosi town, last I checked. However, you can use the airport in 50 minutes away through Igbara-Oke. Airlines you can use are Air Peace, Green Africa and Overland Airways.

In late September 2026 Green Africa sold a 50-minute nonstop out of Lagos at 07:15, with an afternoon return, from US$112 to US$130 one way.

Moreover, Ekiti now has its own airport on the Ado-Ijan Road, opened to commercial traffic on 10 December 2025 by United Nigeria Airlines, which runs Lagos nonstops on Monday, Thursday and Saturday from US$127 (Punch, FlightConnections). Ekiti’s airport sits on the far side of the capital, and travellers who used it allow 1.5 hours travel from there to the Ikogosi Warm Springs gate.

When we went, two people flying from Lagos, with a car and driver for two days, come out near ₦910,000 for one night, against about ₦260,000 by road.

So, you can fly if you live in Abuja, or if that drive with a small child scares you. Our domestic flight guide covers baggage tiers and ID rules, and fares move.

Arinta Waterfalls is the easy add-on to your tour. It is 10 to 15 minutes by car in Ipole-Iloro, seven tiers of falls, a ₦500 gate fee the last time we went, no restaurant and no card machine there, so you need cash. The rock steps are wet, so wear shoes with grip.
