In a landmark move to bolster African unity and mobility, Ghana and Morocco have agreed to initiate a visa waiver for all categories of travelers between the two countries. Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced that the agreement will be presented to both nations’ parliaments for ratification in the coming weeks.

Addressing recent concerns about the safety of Africans in Morocco, Minister Ablakwa conveyed assurances from Moroccan authorities. He clarified that widely circulated social media reports alleging the massacre of approximately 700 Africans were misleading. The Moroccan government confirmed that Ghanaians and other African nationals residing in Morocco are safe, emphasizing the importance of accurate information in fostering trust and unity among African nations.

In a further commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, Morocco has announced plans to double its annual scholarships for Ghanaian students, increasing the number from 90 to 180.
