Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, has announced that the island is set to surpass its growth projections for visitor arrivals and tourism earnings for 2023.
The Caribbean island has been named Caribbean’s Leading Destination for 17 consecutive years and Caribbean’s Leading Cruise Destination 2023, with the Port of Falmouth and Port of Montego Bay being named Caribbean’s Leading Cruise Port and Home Port respectively.
The island is expected to record 4,122,100 visitors from January to December 2023, a 23.7% increase from 2022. The tourism earnings are expected to generate US$4.265 billion, a 17.8% increase from 2022 and a 17.2% increase from 2019.
If the growth trajectory continues, Jamaica will surpass its projections of 4 million visitors and foreign exchange earnings of US$4.1 billion by year-end.
