Uganda has made a strategic entry into Switzerland’s high-end adventure tourism market, marking a new push to attract affluent European travellers.
The breakthrough came during Zurich FESPO 2026, one of Switzerland’s largest international travel and leisure exhibitions, held in Zurich.
Tourism officials and private sector players used the platform to showcase Uganda’s growing range of luxury adventure experiences, including gorilla trekking, wildlife safaris, cultural encounters, and bespoke nature-based travel.
The focus was on tailored, high-value tourism products designed for travellers seeking exclusivity, sustainability, and authentic experiences.
According to tourism promoters, Swiss travel buyers and tour operators showed strong interest in Uganda’s offerings, particularly in custom-made adventure packages that combine comfort with conservation.
Switzerland is regarded as a key source market for high-spending tourists who prioritise quality, responsible travel, and unique destinations.
Building Direct Trade Links
Uganda’s presence at the expo allowed local tour operators to establish direct business-to-business connections with Swiss and European travel agents.

These engagements are expected to translate into new partnerships, curated itineraries, and increased visitor numbers from the Swiss market.
Boosting Uganda’s Global Tourism Profile
The initiative aligns with Uganda’s broader strategy to diversify its tourism source markets and position the country as a premium adventure destination in Africa.
Officials said participation in high-profile international exhibitions such as FESPO is critical for raising destination visibility and competing effectively in the global luxury travel space.
A Step Toward Higher-Value Tourism
By targeting Switzerland’s high-end segment, Uganda aims to attract fewer but higher-spending visitors, increasing tourism revenue while supporting conservation and community development.
Industry stakeholders say the Zurich showcase represents an important milestone in Uganda’s transition toward value-driven and experience-led tourism growth.
