The U.S. has seized a private jet linked to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, alleging it was illegally purchased for $13 million and smuggled out of the country.

The Falcon 900EX aircraft was seized in the Dominican Republic and transported to Florida.
U.S. officials claim that Maduro associates used a Caribbean-based shell company to conceal their involvement in the aircraft’s purchase from a Florida company in late 2022 and early 2023, violating U.S. export control and sanctions laws.

Venezuela condemned the seizure as “piracy” and threatened legal action. The jet was reportedly used for military purposes in Venezuela and by Maduro on international trips.
