The United Arab Emirates (UAE) deported 400 Nigerians, including 90 women and 310 men, amid growing concerns over the treatment of foreign nationals in the Gulf state.
The deportees were received at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons.
Katherine Udida, Director of Migration Affairs, confirmed the deportation, coordinated with Nigeria’s Office of the National Security Adviser.
The Commission plans to provide psychosocial support and reintegration assistance while investigating cases of mistreatment and alleged unjust deportations.
Several returnees expressed frustration, claiming their deportations were unprovoked.
