Travel companies report a surge in African tour bookings from Singaporeans, despite the World Health Organization’s recent mpox virus alert.
Tour operator Chan Brothers Travel saw over a fivefold increase in South Africa bookings, with no cancellations due to mpox fears.
The great migration season, which runs from July to September, contributed to a 15% rise in tours to Kenya and Tanzania.
Scott Dunn, a luxury operator, experienced a 28% rise in African travel bookings, with inquiries doubling since 2023.

The Travel Corporation (TTC), which owns Trafalgar and Contiki, reported a 10% increase in bookings to South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe, with younger travelers driving Contiki’s 30% growth. Safety remains a priority across the industry.
