Qantas has made a significant move by launching its inaugural Airbus A380 flight to Johannesburg, marking its first-ever A380 service to Africa.
The Australian airline will operate up to six weekly flights, nearly doubling its annual capacity on the Australia-Africa route with an additional 130,000 seats.
This expansion responds to increasing demand for travel between the two continents.
In addition, Qantas has announced the relaunch of direct Perth-Johannesburg flights in mid-2025, further enhancing connections to South Africa.
The airline also unveiled a codeshare partnership with South African carrier Airlink, expanding domestic travel options within the country.

With upgraded services, including the return of first class on the A380, Qantas aims to attract more premium and leisure travelers to Africa.
