The Nigerian government plans to concession five international airports, including Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), according to Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
During an inspection of the Lagos airport, Keyamo emphasized that this initiative is aimed at transforming operations and enhancing traveler experiences.
Immediate improvements include renovating departure and arrival areas, adding amenities for passengers with disabilities, and nursing units. Keyamo assured that the new concession process will be transparent and competitive, addressing past concerns.

The government seeks global partners to manage the airports, with President Bola Tinubu urging a transparent selection process. While no specific timeline was provided, Keyamo stated the plan would soon be made public to attract investment and expertise.
