British Airways has launched a new route from London Gatwick to Accra, offering passengers more options for flight times and airports.
The airline’s Director of Networks and Alliances, Neil Chernoff, stated that the new route is not a strategy to move flights from Ghana away from Heathrow Airport, but rather to offer passengers more choices.
The first flight from London Gatwick to Accra touched down at Kotoka International Airport (ACC) on October 29, 2023. The airline will now operate three times a week from Accra to London Gatwick, offering Ghanaian travellers an alternative gateway to London.
The expansion also provides increased cargo capacity on the route to Ghana, benefiting Ghanaian exporters. The expansion is part of British Airways’ broader strategy to restore and strengthen its Africa route network.
