The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) revealed that 122 staff members are stationed at Minna Airport, Niger State, despite the absence of any commercial flights.

FAAN’s Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, highlighted this issue during the 9th Airport Business Summit in Lagos. She expressed concern over the low passenger traffic at many Nigerian airports, which continues to strain FAAN’s resources.

With Africa projecting 261 million passengers by 2025, Nigeria’s underutilized airports point to economic challenges rather than a lack of infrastructure.

This points to the need for improved economic growth to enhance air connectivity and make better use of existing airports.
