Nigeria ranked second as the highest contributor to international arrivals, with 82,642 Nigerian visitors (8.12%) making the journey. This figure represented an increase from the 72,786 visitors from Nigeria in 2022, reinforcing the growing trend of road travel between the two countries.

There are two best routes to Ghana from Nigeria, which are:

Route 1: Lagos → Seme Border → Cotonou → Lomé → Accra

Route 2: Lagos → Benin Republic → Aflao Border → Accra

• Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park: In 2023, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park emerged as Ghana’s premier tourist destination, attracting 208,577 visitors, accounting for 15% of total tourist arrivals. 
• Cape Coast Castle: Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that bears the transatlantic slave trade and Ghana’s rich history, saw a remarkable increase in visitors, with 101,134 tourists in 2023 compared to 86,692 in 2022. 
• Kakum National Park: Famous for its canopy walkway and lush tropical rainforest, Kakum National Park drew 159,271 visitors in 2023, a notable increase from 138,256 in 2022. Nature lovers and adventure seekers often enjoy visiting this destination.

From her professional perspective, she provided insights into the cost of a Nigeria-to-Ghana road trip using different logistics companies. According to Oluwatomisin Oyerinde, the transportation costs vary depending on the means of identification presented:

• GIG Mobility (GIGM): NGN 86,000 when using a Passport; NGN 96,000 when using a National Identification Number (NIN).
• GUO Transport (GUO): NGN 95,000 with a Passport; NGN 100,000 with a NIN.
• ABC Transport (ABC): NGN 75,000 if the Passport has already been stamped for Ghana; NGN 83,000 for a virgin Passport; NGN 86,000 when using a NIN.

She concluded by emphasizing the importance of preparation seeking advice from people in your country who have taken similar trips. She affirmed adequate research will help travelers to be fully informed.
