Four Nigerians have been jailed in the UK for orchestrating a large-scale fraud operation, forging over 2,000 marriage certificates to help people illegally live in the country.
The criminals, Abraham Alade Olarotimi Onifade, 41, Abayomi Aderinsoye Shodipo, 38, Nosimot Mojisola Gbadamosi, 31, and Adekunle Kabir, 54, were sentenced on Tuesday at Woolwich Crown Court.

The UK Home Office revealed that the group operated from March 2019 to May 2023, selling fraudulent EU Settlement Scheme applications and fake Nigerian marriage certificates.

Sentences ranged from six years for Onifade and Shodipo to nine months for Kabir.
The Home Office vowed to continue its crackdown on those abusing UK immigration laws.
