South Africa has introduced a new digital Entry Travel Agreement (ETA) system to simplify visa procedures for Indian travelers, replacing the existing e-visa program.
Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille announced the initiative, designed to boost tourism and streamline visa applications.
The updated system reduces visa requirements to three essential documents at all South African missions, addressing previous delays caused by excessive paperwork.
A new tour operator scheme has also been launched, allowing group visa processing, with 23 Indian operators already participating.
To improve air connectivity, discussions are underway with Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet to restore direct flights between Mumbai and Johannesburg, discontinued in 2015.

This initiative aligns with efforts to strengthen trade ties and promote inclusivity for women, youth, and small businesses in bilateral agreements.
