South African tourism Minister Patricia de Lille has defended her role in the country’s tourism sector, stating that her goal is to combat those who misuse taxpayers’ money for their own interests.

De Lille, who has over 50% of the Department of Tourism’s budget allocated to SA Tourism, has defended her role as the executive authority to ensure careful oversight of the entity. She aims to grow tourism, create jobs, and work closely with the private sector to ensure visitors have a memorable experience.

De Lille is currently promoting South Africa’s tourism offerings at World Travel Market London.
