Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, is advancing discussions with Brazil to activate a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) aimed at initiating direct flights between the two countries.
The talks, held with Brazilian Ambassador Carlos Garcete, focus on revisiting the 2018 MoU that seeks to enhance air connectivity and economic ties.
Both countries aim to establish 4-5 direct flights per week, which are expected to stimulate economic growth, strengthen cultural exchanges, and boost trade. Nigerian airlines, Air Peace and Caverton, have been designated to operate the route.

Committees from both nations will finalize new BASA arrangements, with the formal signing of the agreement anticipated during a future visit to Brazil by Minister Keyamo. The move promises to elevate Nigeria’s aviation sector and deepen relations between the two nations.
