The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized ₦4.4 billion in illegal drugs hidden aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight arriving from Addis Ababa to Lagos on October 29, 2024.
The narcotics, comprising 845 cocaine wraps weighing 18.72 kg, were found in two rear lavatories of Flight ET900 during post-landing cleaning.
NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi stated that the drugs were wrapped in nine polythene bags and linked to an international trafficking network operating between Brazil, Ethiopia, and Nigeria. At least 30 suspects are under investigation.

Additional seizures included drugs concealed in body cream containers and artwork bound for Australia, UAE, and the UK. In a separate operation, 754,000 pills worth ₦525 million were intercepted at Apapa seaport in a container from India, during a joint examination with Customs and other agencies.
