The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) is marking its 50th anniversary with a landmark Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ibadan in April 2026.
The 50th anniversary celebration carries the royal endorsement of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, badan’s paramount traditional ruler.
The milestone gathering brings together travel professionals, airline operators, regulators, and tourism stakeholders from across Nigeria for the most significant meeting in the association’s history.
NANTA President Yinka Folami said:
“We are in support of government tax policies and have consistently championed Nigeria-centric initiatives to drive reforms in the downstream aviation sector.”
The upcoming AGM is expected to bring together travel professionals, airline operators, regulators, and tourism stakeholders from across Nigeria, marking what is anticipated to be a defining moment in the association’s history.
The Minister of State for Finance, Taiwo Oyedele confirmed he would attend the NANTA 50th anniversary AGM Ibadan 2026, describing the meeting as a strategic window to engage a strong community within the tax reform ecosystem.
Multiple taxation, Hajj and Umrah operator concerns, and airline ticket levy clarification are all central agenda items for the anniversary gathering.

NANTA President Yinka Folami appealed for clearer interpretation of levies and taxes embedded in airline tickets, noting that such charges are often attributed to travel professionals and, in some instances, subjected to double taxation.
He called for sustained engagement between the Presidential Committee and relevant agencies, particularly the Nigerian Revenue Service, to resolve these issues.
Oyedele acknowledged that his committee was not fully aware of the depth and strategic role of NANTA, saying:
“Our committee has met with several multi-layered organizations, including airlines. To be honest, we were not fully aware of the depth and strategic role of your association as a critical solution driver in the tax reform process.”

Preparations
Aeroport Group CEO Dr Oludayo Taiwo Gideon, a cleared candidate for National Publicity Secretary has embarked on a series of engagements across NANTA’s zones, visiting Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Ibadan to strengthen institutional cohesion and inter-zonal collaboration ahead of the AGM.
He represented NANTA at the World Travel Market London in 2024, where coordinated media representation enhanced the association’s international visibility with visual content from the Nigerian delegation used in WTM’s own promotional materials.
NANTA is the umbrella body of all travel agencies operating in Nigeria, with over 4,000 registered member agencies across the country.

Foreign exchange instability, airline pricing volatility, and the global Middle East aviation crisis have all compressed margins for Nigerian travel agencies.
