A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo has handed down a significant verdict, sentencing Immigration officer Quadri Adeyinka to seven years in prison for passport fraud.
The verdict was delivered by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie following Adeyinka’s arraignment on multiple charges, including gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage, and cheating, as stipulated by the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, and the Penal Code Act.
Adeyinka stood accused of accepting N100,000 from Ovie Ojeffia to expedite the regularization of his passport but failed to deliver on his promise.
Ojeffia lodged a complaint with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), prompting a thorough investigation that culminated in Adeyinka’s trial and subsequent conviction.
Acting Director of Public Enlightenment and Education at the ICPC, Demola Bakare, confirmed the court’s ruling, emphasizing Adeyinka’s culpability in all charges. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Dr. Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha, representing the ICPC, presented compelling evidence during the trial, detailing Adeyinka’s fraudulent activities and the deception employed to exploit Ojeffia’s trust in the passport by regularization process.
