The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has warned against professional misconduct at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).
Speaking to security agency heads on Tuesday, Kuku highlighted complaints from passengers and government officials about unethical practices.
“Investors are complaining. Passengers are greeted with unprofessional behavior such as, ‘Aunty, what did you bring for us?’ This must stop,” she stated.
Kuku cited cases of extortion, including reports of personnel soliciting bribes under the guise of pensions. “If your organisation is found wanting, it reflects leadership failure,” she added.
She also condemned demands for monetary “returns” to agency bosses, declaring, “The airport is no longer a place to come and make money. Penalties for misconduct will be severe.”
