An Air Peace flight from Abuja to Lagos was halted early Thursday morning due to a suspected bird strike, causing panic among passengers.
The incident occurred during taxiing just before takeoff, prompting an immediate stop.
Human rights lawyer Inihebe Effiong, on board the flight, shared the experience on social media, describing how the sudden halt led to fear and confusion among passengers.
Air Peace’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ejike Ndiulo, confirmed the bird strike and apologized for the disruption, noting that a replacement aircraft was deployed to transport affected passengers.
Effiong questioned airport safety measures, asking if bird detection radar was available at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

Another passenger also voiced concerns, urging the airline to prioritize aircraft safety.
