The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a strict warning to pilots against working for multiple airlines, citing significant safety risks and potential regulatory violations.
In a circular dated November 6, 2024, Acting Director-General Chris Najomo emphasized that pilots employed by one airline should not offer ad-hoc services to others, as simulators and proficiency checks are airline-specific.
The directive, which takes effect November 11, 2024, followed NCAA surveillance reports uncovering this unprofessional practice.
Capt. Mohammed Badamasi supported the move, noting that a pilot’s loyalty should align with their primary employer. He highlighted potential legal and insurance issues if an incident occurs while a pilot operates for a non-primary airline.
