The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is intensifying efforts to combat extortion and other illicit activities perpetrated by touts at Nigerian airports.
Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director, has underscored the agency’s commitment to cracking down on these activities, aiming to enhance travelers’ experiences.
A newly formed committee led by Henry Agbebire, Director of Special Duties, will spearhead this initiative to root out criminals.
FAAN plans to collaborate closely with government agencies operating at airports to enforce strict anti-touting and anti-extortion measures.
In a bid to ensure stringent enforcement, magistrate courts will be established at international airports to expedite legal proceedings against offenders.
Additionally, a dedicated task force will enforce discipline among airport staff and uphold professionalism across all levels of service.
FAAN will introduce dedicated phone lines and QR codes for passenger feedback to further improve airport experiences.
Furthermore, all airport personnel will be required to prominently display their on-duty cards and name tags for easy identification and accountability.
These measures mark FAAN’s proactive stance in curbing malpractices and ensuring seamless operations at Nigerian airports, promising a more secure and efficient travel environment for all passengers
