Rwanda has announced that Africans can travel visa-free to the country, becoming the latest African nation to do so.
President Paul Kagame who disclosed this during the 23rd Global Summit of the World Travel and Tourism Council, emphasized the potential of Africa as a unified tourism destination, stating that Africans are the future of global tourism.
Rwanda will become the fourth African country to remove travel restrictions for Africans, following Gambia, Benin, and Seychelles.
Kenya’s President William Ruto plans to allow all Africans to travel visa-free by December 31. The African Union launched an African passport in 2016 to rival the European Union model. The African Continental Free Trade Area aims to create a single unified market for the continent’s 1.3 billion people and boost economic development.
