In a surprise move, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has denied knowledge of the new conditions announced by the Nigerian federal government for obtaining Dubai visas.
The controversy surrounds the requirement of a $10,000 bank account balance and a document verification number (DVN) at a cost of N640,000.
According to the UAE’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs (GDRFAD), these conditions are not recognized.
Instead, visa applicants will need to provide a personal photo, a copy of their passport (with at least six months’ validity), a travel ticket, and valid medical insurance within the UAE.
This development has left many Nigerians disappointed and confused, especially after the government’s announcement on Monday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has yet to comment on the matter.
Travelers planning to visit Dubai are advised to check with the GDRFAD for the most up-to-date visa requirements to avoid any inconvenience.
