At the 2024 Earthshot Prize ceremony in Cape Town, Prince William credited Namibia for sparking his vision of environmental innovation.

“It was in Namibia in 2018 that I realized the power of innovative, positive solutions to environmental problems,” he shared, reflecting on how the country’s conservation efforts have influenced the awards’ mission.

Founded in 2021, the Earthshot Prize honors global eco-friendly projects that address environmental issues, awarding £1 million (about N$22.5 million) to each of five winners annually.
Prince William’s words highlighted Namibia’s role as a model for sustainable solutions, reinforcing Africa’s impact on worldwide conservation efforts.
