Airbus has launched a new Customer Support Centre in Johannesburg to enhance support for African airlines, focusing on maintenance, training, and efficiency improvements.
The hub, announced during the Aviation Africa 2024 Conference, addresses the continent’s growing demand for air travel and connectivity.
Laurent Negre, Airbus VP for Africa and the Middle East, highlighted the need for specialized skills to meet Africa’s rising aviation needs.
Airbus predicts that African airlines will require 1,460 new aircraft by 2043, driven by GDP growth and an expanding middle class.
The fleet is expected to nearly triple by 2043, with 83% of new orders being single-aisle jets like the A320neo, providing solutions for Africa’s aviation future.
