Uganda Tourism Board surprises tourism leaders at POATE 2024 with a special recognition. CEO Lilly Ajarova honors three ‘Tourism Veterans’ on stage at a packed dinner event hosted by Ugandan Airlines at the Ndere Cultural Centre in Kampala.
Ikechi Uko, Alain St.Ange, and Cuthbert Ncube were honored as “Giants and Pillars” of African tourism. Ikechi Uko humbly acknowledged the recognition, saying “Massive honor to share the spotlight with my mentor St.Ange”.

Alain St.Ange expressed gratitude for the recognition at POATE 2024’s Official Dinner, thanking Uganda Tourism Board CEO Lily Ajarova. The event showcased Uganda’s diverse attractions, aiming to solidify its position as a top African travel destination. The annual gathering brought together industry professionals for networking and strategic discussions. UTB highlighted sustainable tourism initiatives, wildlife conservation, and cultural heritage preservation, introducing new travel packages and itineraries focused on unique experiences like gorilla trekking and cultural tours. The board emphasized its commitment to enhancing visitor experiences and promoting Uganda’s natural beauty and cultural richness, underscoring the country’s potential for tourism growth and global connections.
