Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, responded to a recent motion by a House of Representatives member calling for the revocation of private airstrip licenses, citing security concerns.
Keyamo clarified that the House as a whole did not call for this action; rather, it was a motion by Rep. Sulaiman Gumi.
The minister explained that private airstrips, including those granted licenses like Living Faith Church, follow strict regulations.
After construction, control towers are handed over to the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), ensuring government control of airspace.
Keyamo noted that NAMA oversees air traffic control, and all flights into Nigeria require government clearance.

He reassured the public that these measures maintain national security, highlighting the agency’s exclusive authority over Nigeria’s airspace.
