The U.S. government has filed additional charges against Allen Onyema, CEO of Nigerian airline Air Peace, accusing him of obstruction of justice.
Onyema, wanted since 2019 for bank fraud and money laundering, allegedly submitted false documents to halt a U.S. investigation.
Alongside Ejiroghene Eghagha, Air Peace’s chief of finance, Onyema is accused of using fake documents to funnel over $20 million for aircraft purchases.Â
Air Peace responded, declaring Onyema and Eghagha innocent.
Aviation analyst Olumide Ohunayo praised the airline’s statement but warned that the indictment may delay Air Peace’s planned U.S. routes.Â

Despite his legal troubles, Onyema remains popular in Nigeria for his philanthropic efforts, including evacuating Nigerians from war zones.Â
However, analysts urge him to face the U.S. charges to protect his reputation.
