Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has pledged support for the revival of cultural tourism in the state and Eastern Nigeria through a partnership with the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA).
Governor Nwifuru met with NANTA’s Vice President, Mr. Ehiogie Osaigbovo Hope, and members in Abakaliki, expressing gratitude for their interest in partnering with the state.
“We are happy to have NANTA work with us to market Ebonyi State and put us out there in the national and global space,” he said.
The governor highlighted the state’s impressive infrastructure, including top-notch road networks, excellent hotels, and a newly built airport, which will enhance the tourism experience.
He commended Mr. Hope’s leadership, describing him as a transformational leader committed to reviving tourism activities.
“My commissioner of culture and tourism has my express mandate to have a round table discussion with you, study your proposals, and I assure you that it is a done deal.”

Mr. Hope informed the governor of NANTA’s initiatives, including:
- Establishment of four training centers to equip youths with skills in the travel and tourism trade
- Plans to host the first Eastern Regional Tourism Fair
- Partnerships with local and international airlines to drive the revival of the cultural tourism economy
“We are grateful for this opportunity to work and help with the transformation of Ebonyi tourism,” he said. “We are pleading with the governor to support NANTA initiatives to drive the revival of the cultural tourism economy in Ebonyi State.”
