Flight Interruptions Imminent As Nigerian Aviation Unions Join Nationwide Strike

Nigerian aviation unions, including the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP), and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), have issued a sweeping directive to halt all services at Nigerian airports.

This move, in accordance with an organized labour directive, is set to commence at midnight on June 3, 2024. The unions, under the umbrella of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), are mobilizing for what promises to be a significant strike action. 

The strike, set to escalate to international terminals on June 4, aims to address longstanding grievances with the Nigerian government’s treatment of workers’ demands. 

With nationwide impact looming, aviation workers are urged to fully comply with the strike, as union leaders pledge to enforce compliance across all airports.
