British-Nigerian former female footballer who went on to become a broadcaster, Eniola Aluko has just acquired a female football club in the Italy Serie A.

Following this acquisition, Aluko becomes the first black woman to own a female football team in the Italy Serie A.

Asisat Oshoala and Michelle Alozie described Eniola Aluko as one of the biggest role models for the Nigerian Super Falcons.

Aluko who once played for the English national team and represented the country at the Women’s World Cup and other international competitions, joined the investment group Mercury 13, which aims to improve women’s football across Europe.

The acquisition of FC Como by Mercury 13 is worth over $100m.

Eniola Aluko also previously played for Chelsea, Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic, Sky Blue FC, and Atlanta Beats.
