The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by collecting an impressive N17,903,312,518.80 in a single day, marking a historic achievement since its inception.
This record-breaking feat was announced by Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, during a press briefing held on June 19, 2024.
Comptroller Olomu credited this remarkable success to the unwavering dedication of Customs officers who have diligently plugged revenue leaks, especially amidst challenges posed by reduced cargo throughput.
He expressed utmost confidence in the command’s capability not only to sustain but also surpass its targets, commending the relentless efforts of officers and staff.
The record revenue collection coincides with the one-year anniversary of Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, in office, underscoring a period of significant achievements and strategic improvements within the command.
Highlighting the importance of adherence to lawful operational guidelines, Olomu urged all stakeholders in port operations to strictly comply with import and export regulations, ensure timely duty payments, and actively contribute to national interests.
This milestone sets a new standard in customs operations, demonstrating Nigeria’s commitment to fiscal integrity and operational excellence at its ports.
