Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has reduced fares by 66% on the Lagos-London route by pegging its economy class ticket at N1.2 million.

This comes as foreign airlines charge an average of N3.5 million for economy class tickets from Lagos to London.

British Airways, which had an exclusive advantage of operating direct flights from Lagos to London, now faces Air Peace as the local carrier will operate flights from Lagos to Gatwick London.

Air Peace’s return economy class ticket costs N1.2 million, while a return business class ticket sells for N4 million. Nigerian students studying in the UK can now access a special 15% rebate on economy class fares.

Air Peace’s London flight is expected to be a welcome idea, as Nigeria would now have its own carrier.
