Nigeria’s Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, announced that the Abuja Rail Mass Transit (ART) project is nearly complete, with 97% of the work completed.
Wike expressed enthusiasm about the project’s progress and revealed plans for the official launch of the Abuja Light Rail in May, coinciding with President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office.
He praised the efforts of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) for their efficiency and assured completion of renovation works before the scheduled commissioning in May.
Wike emphasized the need for a step-by-step assessment of the potential extension of rail lines to high-traffic areas in the capital city, stating that discussions with the contractor would determine future actions.
