Nigeria’s government has criticized a recent travel advisory issued by the US and UK, warning citizens against visiting certain parts of the country.
The US warned against major hotels in Nigeria due to security threats, particularly in Abuja. The UK warned citizens against visiting states like Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa aheadĀ of the November 11Ā gubernatorial elections.
The Nigerian government, however, has consistently prioritized the safety and well-being of all visitors to the country.
Minister of Information and National Orientation Muhammed Idris emphasized that such advisories do not achieve anything other than needless panic and can have a severe adverse economic impact.

The government has implemented comprehensive security measures at both Federal and State levels to ensure the safety of tourists and international guests. The security alert is not helpful as it creates unnecessary panic and has an impact on the economy.
The government should focus on countering threats and terrorism around the country and the Federal Capital.
