Enugu Air has secured its AOC licence to begin scheduled flights in Nigeria, following certification by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The NCAA issued the Air Operator Certificate to Enugu Air at its Abuja headquarters, clearing the state-owned carrier to begin scheduled commercial flight operations.
Consequently, Enugu Air AOC licence scheduled flights in 2026 now become a reality for travellers across southeastern Nigeria.
NCAA Director-General Chris Najomo presented the AOC licence at a ceremony in Abuja. He confirmed the certification followed a detailed regulatory process involving operational inspections and technical assessments.
Furthermore, Enugu Air Accountable Manager Tolu Ita said the airline worked closely with the regulator throughout the certification process and would operate in full compliance with aviation safety standards.
“We are proud to announce that Enugu Air has officially received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, marking a major milestone as we begin independent operations. Our sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, the Enugu State Ministry of Transport, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and our entire team whose dedication made this achievement possible. This milestone marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for aviation in Enugu and across Nigeria.”
Scheduled Flights
Enugu Air scheduled flights will connect Enugu with Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Owerri — operating from Akanu Ibiam International Airport.

Additionally, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo formally launched the airline at Enugu International Airport, with Governor Peter Mbah confirming that Enugu Air aims to boost tourism, attract investment, and create jobs.
Enugu Air currently operates six aircraft, Embraer E170 and E190 regional jets.
Moreover, the airline plans to expand its fleet to 20 aircraft by end of 2026, adding 14 new jets to support more frequent services and new regional African destinations.
Meanwhile, Enugu Air plans to join the Global Distribution System to attract international travellers and diaspora communities to southeastern Nigeria.
