In a prestigious recognition of its excellence in aviation, Asky Airlines has been honored as the best carrier in the West African region.
Asky Airlines, based in Lome, Togo Republic, has emerged as the winner of the “Best Airline in West Africa 2023” award. The prestigious award was presented at the seventh Accraweizo event held in Accra, Ghana.
The award recognizes Asky Airlines’ consistent efforts in promoting West Africa and the entire African continent. Mr. Ikechi Uko, the organizer of the event, praised the airline for its significant contribution to the development of the airline sub-sector in West Africa.
Mr. Esayas WoldeMaria, the Managing Director of Asky Airlines, received the award on behalf of the airline and expressed his delight and appreciation. “We are delighted to have won this award as the ‘Best African Airline 2023’ in West Africa. The award means a lot to us. I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to each one of our customers for their confidence in our services,” he said.
Asky Airlines is a private multinational passenger airline serving West and Central Africa, with its head office in Lome, Togo, and its hub at Gnassingbe Eyadema International Airport. The airline has been consistently profitable since 2017 and has a fleet of about 15 aircraft with an average age of 11.2 years.
WoldeMaria also lauded the organizers of Accraweizo for promoting West Africa and the continent’s travels through its annual conference. He said, “We appreciate the organizers of Accraweizo for recognizing our contribution to the aviation sector in the region and for promoting West Africa and the continent’s travels.”

Asky Airlines is a strategic partner of Ethiopian Airlines, with Ethiopian Airlines holding a 40% stake in the company. Other shareholders include Ecobank, BIDC, BOAD, Sakhumnotho Group Holding, and other West and Central African private investors, as well as the Togolese government with a minority stake of 14.39%.
